Why Nutrition:
Food therapy is one of Eight branches of Chinese Medicine
Many areas of Chinese Medicine lack the Evidence-based research needed to establish efficacy
I have experienced the power of food therapy, first-hand, as a Type 1.5 Diabetic
Around the age of 30, I developed Diabetes. I lost weight, had to urinate frequently, was having muscle cramps, and was experiencing mood fluctuations. My doctor referred me to an Endocrinologist. That doctor diagnosed me as a Type 2 Diabetic. After 10 years and multiple therapies, I urged them to test me for the genetic marker for Type 1. After a decade (and one endocrinologist that accused me of lying about my food intake) I finally had a working diagnosis. I studied, asked questions, changed my diet, and was able to bring my A1c from almost 10 down to 7 within 4 months.
This introduced me to the power of food and nutrition!
I look forward to providing evidence-based services both from a traditional Western and an integrated Chinese Medical perspective.
